Car fire snarling traffic on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

A car fire on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge is snarling traffic coming into Wilmington.

According to New Hanover County dispatch, the car caught on fire around 4:45 p.m. No injuries were reported.

Both eastbound lanes were initially blocked as crews worked to clear the scene. However, police have now opened up the left, eastbound lane coming into Wilmington. Police have also closed the left, westbound lane heading towards Leland.

Motorists are urged to seek an alternate route.
