TRAFFIC ALERT: Several lanes closed after dump truck hits utility pole

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

Masonboro Loop Road in New Hanover County is shut down after an accident early Tuesday morning.

According to New Hanover County Communications, a dump truck hit a utility pole at the intersection of Southwold Drive and Masonboro Loop Road.

The accident happened around 8:30 a.m.

EMS was called to the scene but officials say the driver of the dump truck was not hurt.

One lane is closed to traffic on Masonboro Loop Road, Grissom Road and Myrtle Grove Road.

Duke Energy crews are on scene; no outages are currently reported on the Duke Energy outage map.
