A former Hoggard High School basketball standout may be switching college programs.
Trae Bryant has received permission to contact other schools after his head coach at the University of Maine, Bob Walsh, stepped down.
The Wilmington native says he is unsure if he will leave the Black Bears' program, but is keeping his options open due to the changes in staff. The University of Maine recently hired former Black Bears women’s basketball coach Richard Baron to take over the men's program.
Bryant started his college career at UNC Asheville before transferring to Cape Fear Community College after one season.
Bryant is seeking a medical redshirt after getting injured this season. He played in just seven games for the Black Bears and averaged 5.4 points per game.
