Lanes will be closed on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge beginning Monday and lasting through March 22.
According to a state Department of Transportation news release, DOT crews will be inspecting the bridge lift span per Federal Highway Administration guidelines that mandate inspections every two years. If inspectors find a safety concern, the bridge will be repaired or closed until repairs can be made. Weight restrictions could also be placed on the bridge.
The intermittent lane closures will be in effect from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. One lane will remain open in each direction on the bridge. There will not be any detours, but motorists are urged to seek alternate routes.
