BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

Testing on the water supply at the Northwest Water Treatment Plant shows levels of 1,4-Dioxane well below the EPA advisory level, Brunswick County officials announced Wednesday.

Samples taken on Feb. 22 show levels of 2.7 micrograms per liter in the plant's raw water source and 2.5 in the finished water source.

Officials say the EPA has set a noncancer adverse health effect advisory of 200 micrograms per liter. The advisory is calculated for daily exposure over a lifetime to the most vulnerable populations, like infants.

More information on the testing can be found here.
