This weekend, we'll spring forward.
Daylight saving time begins March 11.
You will lose an hour of sleep; however, you will gain a safer home if you check your smoke detector.
James Jarvis with the American Red Cross joined us on WECT News First at Four to remind us about this important safety check and to talk about other good fire safety practices.
Jarvis said to check smoke alarm batteries and change them if needed.
He recommended you place smoke alarms on every level of your home, including inside and outside bedrooms.
The Red Cross can also come to your home and install smoke detectors. To learn more, click here.
