WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

A delicious lunch will be served that will benefit charities that feed hungry families in our community.

Later this month, the Empty Bowls event will support Mother Hubbard's Cupboard and the Good Shepherd Center.

The event is Friday, March 16, at 11:30 at the First Baptist Activities Center, located at 1939 Independence Blvd.

Tickets are $20 and are available here.

Every other year, at Empty Bowls, Wilmington residents purchase tickets for a meal of delicious soup and bread made and donated by area restaurants; each ticket holder selects a beautiful bowl created and donated by local potters to take home as a reminder of the local and global fight against hunger.

Our Kim Ratcliff will be there serving up some of the dishes.
