NEW BERN, NC (WECT) - Fill up on oysters and learn more about the aquaculture species at the Cultured Seafood Festival.
The event, Friday, March 9, at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center, will feature a variety of aquaculture raised seafood, including North Carolina oysters, crab cakes, clams, tilapia, hybrid striped bass, crawfish and catfish.
Tickets are $50 per person and are available online.
The event is the culmination of the North Carolina Aquaculture Development Conference (NCADC), which brings together bring together the public, current and prospective fish farmers, scientist and regulatory experts to share information and ideas about the development of aquaculture in North Carolina.
This conference is in its 30th year.
Jay Styron, the president of the NC Shellfish Growers Association, joins us on WECT News First at Four Monday to talk about the event and show us the best way to shuck oysters and to talk about the health of the oysters off our coast.
