BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - GenX levels were at the lowest levels in the Northwest Water Treatment Plant's raw water source since testing began, according to the latest results released by Brunswick County officials.
The results show GenX levels of 8.82 parts per trillion in the plant's raw water source and 9.07 ppt in the finished water source. The samples were taken on Feb. 15.
The previous low in the raw water source was 11.0 ppt in a sample taken Feb. 8. A sample of the finished water source taken that same day showed a level of 7.48 ppt.
The state's Department of Health and Human Services has set a health goal of 140 parts per trillion for exposure to GenX in drinking water.
