Former NBA player Bob Bigelow spoke Thursday night at the Midtown YMCA in Wilmington.
Bigelow travels the country speaking to coaches, parents, and volunteers involved with youth sports.
His message to those involved with youth sports is simple.
"Some would say that the adults have highjacked youth sports,” said Bigelow. “They are organizing it far more then when I grew up so the mess about the kids is for the adults. Back off, because they only have one childhood.”
Bigelow was an NBA first-round draft pick in 1975 by the Kansas City Kings. He also played for the Boston Celtics and San Diego Clippers and played collegiately at the University of Pennsylvania for Hall of Fame coach Chuck Daly.
