Former Football Star is Voice for Victims

AUGUST 17, 2005 -- A former football star from Wilmington is tackling a new position. He's becoming a voice for victims of crime.

At a ceremony at the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office Wednesday, Roman Gabriel was appointed to the North Carolina Victim Assistance Network.

Gabriel graduated from New Hanover High School and went on to play football for NC State, the Los Angeles Rams, and the Philadelphia Eagles.

He has now settled back in Wilmington.

The victim assistance network is a support group for crime victims.
