More Jobs Could be Coming to Wilmington

AUGUST 15, 2005 -- More jobs are reportedly coming to Wilmington.  You can't bank on it yet, but you can sit on what this company makes.  They make car seats.

City and county officials announced Guilford Manufacturing intends on making Wilmington home. The company is looking for property in Wilmington to anchor its world headquarters. The move would create 40 new jobs, 20 of them potentially from Wilmington.  The salaries are big, $158,000 a year.

This is all pending the city and county approve a $400,000 combined incentive. Mayor Spence Broadhurst says bringing the company to Wilmington is a worthwhile investment.

A UNCW study found if Guilford Manufacturing makes Wilmington home, it will bring $8.1 million to the economy.
