Senior guard Jenna Green led three William & Mary players in double figures with 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting as the Tribe outlasted UNCW for a 66-53 victory over the Seahawks in a Colonial Athletic Association women's basketball matinee at Trask Coliseum on Sunday.
The Tribe, which won for the ninth time in its last 10 games, improved to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the CAA. UNCW, meanwhile, suffered its first home loss of the season to fall to 7-6 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Green, who scored a season-high 17 points, also contributed eight rebounds and seven assists for the Tribe, which shot 49.1 percent from the field.
Junior guard Bianca Boggs matched Green for game-high honors with 17 points after making 5-of-16 field goal attempts and all five of her free throws. Senior center Abby Rendle contributed 16 points with seven rebounds and five blocked shots.
Senior guard Madison Raque and junior center Chinyere Belleach tallied 10 points to lead UNCW while senior center Rebekah Banks grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
Key Moment: William & Mary overcame a two-point deficit early in the second quarter by going on a 19-5 run over a six-minute span to take a 31-19 lead the Tribe did not relinquish. Green led the charge by scoring seven of her 17 points.
