Wrightsville beach is a little cleaner Sunday thanks to some students in the area.
A teacher at Unitarian Universalist congregation said students are exploring seven social justice themes, and one of them is the environment.
Sunday, they took what they’ve been learning about pollution to the beach, picking up trash.
The students seem to be taking the lessons to heart.
"I feel really good about it because we're helping the environment and I just think about all of the animals that are dying because there's so much plastic and trash in the ocean and on the beach and I mean if I was an animal I wouldn't want to die because of that,” fourth-grader Sejal Escaravage said.
