First Baptist Church in Wilmington was packed Thursday, not for a church service, but for the annual North Carolina Works Career Center Job Fair.
More than 45 employers from food services to law enforcement set up in the church’s gym.
Event coordinators said they had a bigger turnout than in years past.
The career center partnered with the Lower Cape Fear Human Resource Association to host the event.
A representative with NC Works says said the event was veteran focused, but was for everyone.
“Whether they’re trying to find a job, whether they’re laid off, or whether they’re trying to do a career transition, it’s just important," Brendan Heffernan, a business services representative for the NC Works Career Center, said. "And it’s also important to build the relationships with the local employers and the local community resources.”
