Multi-agency drug bust nets 1 kilo of cocaine, 2 jailed on $1 million bonds

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office Vice-Narcotics Unit have arrested two suspects on multiple drugs charges following a multi-agency investigation that lasted two months.

Deonte Xavier Bigelow, 27, of Elon, and Courtnae Shantae Wiley (mugshot not available), 27, of Burlington, are both charged with two counts of trafficking cocaine, conspire to traffic cocaine, and possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver cocaine.

The pair were arrested Wednesday night after a traffic stop on US 17 near Leland. Following a search of the vehicle by a sheriff's office K9 unit, agents seized approximately one kilo of cocaine.

Bigelow and Wiley were booked into the Bladen County Jail under $1 million bonds each.

The multi-agency investigation included the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Fire (ATF), the Alamance Narcotics Enforcement Task Force (ANET), the Drug Enforcement Administration out of Wilmington, the FBI Coastal Carolina Criminal Enterprise Task Force, and New Hanover County Sheriff's Office.

"Drug dealers know no jurisdictional boundaries. We are grateful to those agencies that assisted in apprehending these two large-scale cocaine distributors in southeast NC," said Brunswick County Sheriff John Ingram.
