Most of the tourists are off our beaches this year, which should leave plenty of room for those participating in a kite-flying event this weekend.
The Cape Fear Kite Festival is scheduled for Nov. 4-5 at the Fort Fisher Recreation Area in Kure Beach. Wind and weather permitting, the festival will last from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Michael Agner visited WECT's First at Four on Wednesday to discuss the event, which was organized as a "fun fly" without competitions or rules to unofficially wrap up the kite-flying year.
Serious kite flyers who enjoy showing their sky art will be on hand and spectators of all ages are welcome.
