The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down near Shallotte Monday.
At approximately 11:45 p.m., an EF0 tornado was detected about 10 miles northeast of Shallotte in Supply.
The tornado stayed on the ground for less than two minutes, traveling northeast with wind speeds of 65 miles an hour. Its path was less than a half-mile long.
Trees about a foot in diameter were snapped. Limbs were also scattered across Makatoka Road.
No one was injured in the tornado.
An EF0 tornado is classified as maintaining wind speeds between 65 and 85 miles an hour.
