Residents reminisced at Echo Farms Golf Course at one final event, the Tour de Farm, Saturday afternoon.
The putting green and driving range was open, and golfers could be seen hitting balls one last time. There also was a low country boil with local shrimp and NC Andouille Sausage.
The event was sponsored by the Echo Farms Residence Association, and was organized by Beth Ann Hillman, a 23-year resident of Echo Farms.
"We just love Echo Farms, Tour the Farm was a vision that we had because it is our farm," said Hillman. "It is a place of quietness. Birds, alligators, all kinds of wildlife. And we'll miss that dearly."
Echo Farms Golf Course’s closing was announced in September after a settlement was reached in a lawsuit filed by Echo Farms residents against the owner of the golf course.
