WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Choosing a college can be a challenging decision for high school students and an event coming up in Wilmington aims to help.

The Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (CACRAO) College Fair is scheduled for Oct. 26 in the Wilmington Convention Center. Public and private colleges and universities from all over North and South Carolina will be on hand to help high schoolers make their college choices and David Wilson with Cape Fear Community College was on WECT's First at Four Friday to shed more light on the subject.

Admission is free to next Thursday's CACRAO event, which lasts from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Teens are encouraged to remember the following when attending college fairs:

  • Write down your questions ahead of time. What questions should you ask and which ones should you avoid?
  • Don't be afraid to talk to people behind the table. Introduce yourself and do what you can to make college fair representatives an effective resource in your decision-making process.
