Towson edges UNCW women's soccer on first half goal for 1-0 Win

TOWSON, Maryland – Senior midfielder Maddie Bove scored the game's only goal in the 20th minute to lead Towson to a 1-0 victory over UNCW in a Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer contest at the Tiger Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon.

The win elevated the Tigers' record to 5-10-2 overall and 2-5-0 in the CAA while UNCW dropped to 5-10-2 on the season with a 1-5-1 mark in league play.

Bove gave Towson the only goal it needed when she converted passes from freshman Afton Kalkoske and junior McKenzie McCaull for her fifth goal of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Taylor Sebolao, the CAA leader in saves, recorded five saves in earning the shutout win for the Tigers while freshman goalkeeper Sydney Schneider tallied two saves in the loss for the Seahawks.

"Give credit to Towson on a hard-fought win," UNCW Coach Paul Cairney said. "Their team knew the crucial importance of this game today and unfortunately, we did not seem to grasp the urgency needed. We will bounce back and get ready for Thursday's match."
