PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

A man accused of breaking into a woman's home in Rocky Point and assaulting her turned himself into authorities last week.

Miguel Romera Lechuga, 41, of Rocky Point, allegedly broke into the victim's home on Interstate Loop Road on Oct. 2 "with the intent to terrorize and injure the woman," according to the Pender County Sheriff's Office. He reportedly grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the floor. He also allegedly threatened the woman during the incident.

Although the sheriff's office initially announced Friday morning Lechuga was wanted in connection to the incident, officials later said he surrendered to New Hanover County authorities on Friday, Oct. 6.

"The assigned detective was not contacted regarding the arrest," a spokesperson said.

Lechuga was charged with felony breaking and entering, assault on a female, and communicating threats.
