Cape Fear Public Utility Authority crews are working on a water main break and a traffic advisory is in effect at the corner of Carolina Beach Road and Piner Road.

A boil water advisory has also been issued for all customers at odd-numbered addresses from 5501-5637 South College Road and 600, 700 and 800 Piner Road. Periods of low pressure or water outages should be expected.

About 100 customers are affected and notification will be hand delivered by CFPUA staff, according to an email sent Thursday night.

Customers in the affected area are asked to boil their water for one minute, then allow it to cool prior to consumption. Boiling before using water for showering or bathing is not necessary.

When service is returned to normal and testing of the water is completed, the boil water advisory will be lifted.
