Brunswick Co. police arrest SC man for breaking and entering, other charges

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

A Little River, SC, man was arrested by Brunswick County authorities on Tuesday and charged with multiple crimes stemming from an incident in Supply.

According to a news release sent Wednesday, James Douglas Valenti Jr., 40, was residing at a home on South Windward Drive in Supply on Oct. 6 when officers discovered stolen goods in the home. During a search, police found approximately $200,000 in jewelry and electronics and $1,200 in fishing equipment. Nearly $35,000 in cash was also recovered from incidents that occurred Horry County, SC.

Valenti was booked into the Brunswick County Detention Facility on Tuesday under a $95,000 bond.

He faces the following charges: 

  • Breaking and entering
  • Larceny after breaking and entering
  • Obtaining property under false pretense
  • Felony receiving stolen goods/property
  • Safecracking
  • Felony possession of cocaine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Valenti also has a fugitive warrant out of Pennsylvania for charges of criminal trespassing, DUI (third offense) and theft by deception/false impression.

The arrest was the result of a joint effort between Brunswick County and Horry County police, and Wednesday's release stated that additional charges are expected in both counties.
