Man killed in shooting at Whiteville apartments

WHITEVILLE, NC (WECT) -

A Fair Bluff man was killed in a shooting at a Whiteville apartment complex Monday night.

Bobby Lee Johnson, 26, died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds, according to Whiteville officials.

Officers responded to Sandy Ridge Apartments at approximately 9:35 p.m. for a report of a gunshot victim. When they arrived on the scene, officers found Johnson lying in front of an apartment building with several people around him.

Johnson appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen and lower extremities.

The SBI was called in to assist with the investigation and collection of evidence.

No suspects have been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
