On Friday afternoon, Hope Abounds hosted a luncheon at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside to honor 10 medical professionals for their compassionate care of cancer patients. All of those recognized were nominated by community members.
Caregivers recognized include nurses, doctors, a dietitian, and a radiation therapist.
The Champions of Hope Luncheon is the first of three events in the Celebrate Hope Charity Weekend. Hope Abounds is a non-profit that helps women, children, and their families during cancer treatment.
Keynote speaker Stuart Stout shared his family's experience with cancer.
"I truly hope nobody in this room has to face what we faced, what you faced, having a child get sick,” Stout said. “But I do hope that everybody, through some experience, gets to see how many people love you."
