CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Senior Thomas Eldridge shot a team-low round of one-under-par 71 as UNCW dropped one spot to fourth in the standings after 36 holes at the Golfweek Conference Challenge on Monday at the Cedar Rapids Country Club.
NC State continues to lead the field, but saw its lead cut to five strokes ahead of second-place host Iowa. San Francisco leaped past the Seahawks into third place and owns a four-stroke advantage on UNCW.
Lipscomb’s Dawson Armstrong grabbed the lead by carding a five-under-par 67 in the second round and leads Benjamin Shipp of NC State by a stroke.
Eldridge opened the second round carding a three-under 33 on the front nine fueled by three birdies. His second effort lifted him 16 spots into a tie for 28th.
UNCW’s Blake McShea shot three-over in the round to fall out of the top five and into a tie for 16th.
The Seahawks closeout their tournament appearance when they tee-off at 9 a.m. CST and are paired with Campbell and Eastern Michigan.
