WILMINGTON, NC (UNCW News Release) -

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Behind 14 kills from freshman Brynn Montgomery and 10 apiece from juniors Maddy Kline and Halle Hunt, UNCW topped Liberty, 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-17, 26-24), to snap a four-match losing skid on Friday in Trask Coliseum.

The Seahawks raised their record to 4-6 with the win while the Flames dipped to 2-9 with their third straight setback. The match was the second of six this weekend at the Courtyard by Marriott Classic. Western Michigan swept Morgan State in the opener on Friday.

Montgomery narrowly missed a triple-double for the second time this season, finishing with 20 assists and nine digs. Hunt posted a double-double, chipping in 10 digs while Michaela White posted 16 assists and 10 digs of her own. Libero Kate McCullough finished with a match-high tying 14 digs.

Kainah Williams paced Liberty with 11 kills while Anna Gragg and Casey Goodwin added 10 each. Setter Amaya Williams held match-high honors with 40 assists.

At the net, the Seahawks out-blocked the Flames, 13-9.5, with Anna Moss tying her season-high with nine blocks.

The Seahawks return to action at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday against Morgan State. Saturday begins with Liberty and Western Michigan at 9:30 a.m.
