Area Students Receive Free Back Packs

JULY 22, 2005 -- Around 100 Wilmington students will return to school with new back packs.

Office Depot donated the packs at Johnson Elementary School.

The store teamed with the "Communities in Schools Group" for the effort.

The children were eager to check out their new gear. The president of the Communities in Schools Organization says the teachers are happy as well.

They often end up spending their own money on supplies, because they don't want the students to go without. This year, 4,000 back packs will be donated to kids all across North Carolina.
