Hospice Celebrates 25th Anniversary

JULY 14, 2005 -- The Lower Cape Fear Hospice is celebrating its 25th birthday.

Thursday night's party featured a band, food and mingling.

The first physician and first executive director of the hospice were honored. There was also a tribute to Sandy Morgan, the first patient.

The hospice provides comfort and care for people with life-limiting illnesses.

Dame Sisily Saunders, who founded the first hospice, died Thursday in London at St. Christopher's Hospice. She was 87 years old.
