State Port Plans Renovations

JULY 14, 2005 -- Renovation is on the way for Wilmington's port.

Officials at the port say international trade will double in fifteen years, so they are expanding to keep up with the rapid growth.

They plan to buy two cranes that are bigger than the ones they are using now to unload cargo off the ships.

They'll expand the port's dock over the river as well to withstand the weight of those new cranes.

Officials say business will carry on as usual during renovations. It should take two or more years to complete.
