JULY 11, 2005 -- The father a UNCW student accused of murder admits he lied on his son's college application.

James Dixon pled guilty to forgery in Charlotte, North Carolina.

His son was accused of killing a fellow student. Curtis Dixon killed Jessica Faulkner and then killed himself last December while awaiting trial.

James Dixon failed to put down his son's criminal record or the fact that he attended other universities.

He will have to pay fines and court costs.

Since Faulkner's death, the university has started cross-checking UNCW campuses and getting recommendations from guidance counselors to keep this from happening again.
