Gas Prices Rise for Holiday Weekend

JUNE 29, 2005 -- A road trip this Independence Day weekend will cost substantially more this year than last year.

The average gas price in Wilmington is around $2.13 per gallon for regular fuel. That's a 24 cent increase over last year.

You can save a few pennies by using regular fuel instead of premium and keeping your luggage inside the car instead of on the roof.

Vickie Sewell with AAA in Wilmington predicts the price of gas won't keep people home.

"I don't think we're ever going to stop traveling. I think we're gonna make some cut backs in other areas, and you know we might shorten the trip a little bit, but I think we'll always continue to travel," says Sewell.

If you want to find bargain gas go to and click on fuel finder. You will be able to find the cheapest gas within a three, five and ten mile radius.
