Construction Project Could Cut Down on Crime

JUNE 28, 2005 -- The goal of a construction project in Wilmington is easing traffic problems and reducing crime.

The 5th Street bridge construction project officially began Monday morning.

The bridge will be built between Campbell and Brunswick Streets. It replaces an old bridge that was torn down.

It will eventually connect downtown with the northside and city officials hope that new link will deter crime.

Construction is expected to last nine months.
