WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Delaware's Ron Marinaccio worked five shutout innings and reliever Burk FitzPatrick worked the final four innings for a save as Delaware knocked off UNCW, 5-2, to tie the Colonial Athletic Association weekend series on Saturday at Brooks Field.
The Blue Hens moved back in front of the Seahawks in the CAA standings with the win while running their overall record to 24-16 and 10-7 in the league. The Seahawks (20-22, 8-6) dropped back into fourth place with the loss, ahead of Elon and William & Mary.
Marinaccio (1-1) earned the win with a season-high seven strikeouts over five innings. FitzPatrick allowed a pair of unearned runs over his four-inning stint to record his fourth save of the season.

Nick Patten led the UD lineup with a pair of hits and scored twice. Brian Mayer added a RBI double in the second inning.
Brian Mims and Robbie Thorburn had two hits apiece for UNCW.
Logan Beehler (1-6) suffered the loss, allowing three runs over four innings.
Up next: The series concludes on Sunday with first-pitch set for 1 p.m.
How it happened: UD jumped on Beehler in the first for a run and added two more in the second. Doug Trimble opened the scoring with a RBI ground out and in the second inning, Kyle Baker plated a run in the same fashion. Mayer followed with a run-scoring double with two out for a 3-0 lead.
