MIDLOTHIAN, Virginia – Led by freshman Reese McFarlane's three-under-par 69, UNCW finished the opening 18 holes at five-under-par and in third place at the Colonial Athletic Association men's golf championship on Friday at the Salisbury Country Club.
The College of Charleston set a conference single-round record on Friday, finishing 14-under for the round with a score of 274. Towson, meanwhile, owns a two-stroke lead on the Seahawks for second-place.
Due to anticipated rain on Sunday, the tournament will now play 36 holes on Saturday.
Through 18 holes, Towson's Spencer Alexander and Parker Derby of Charleston are tied for the tournament lead at six-under. Shota Ozaki of JMU and Charleston's Willian Rainey are tied for third at four-under while McFarlane and CofC's Philip Oweida round out the top five, both tied for fifth at three-under.
