WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

A designer dress auction to be held at Independence Mall on Saturday has been canceled.

According to Lt. Jerry Brewer with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, the auction was canceled when the owner of Isabella Grape Boutique declared bankruptcy.

Court documents reveal nearly 3,000 dresses were seized as a result of a writ of execution served against the boutique's owner Connie Ledgett. She entered into a lease agreement with The Forum, located off Military Cutoff Road, in July 2012.

According to a civil complaint filed in March 2016, Ledgett voluntarily vacated the property in July 2014, but was required to pay The Forum $4,083.33 per month in rent from Sept. 1, 2012, through Aug. 31, 2017, per the lease agreement. A judge determined Ledgett owed $95,301.37, nearly $6,000 in interest and more than $14,500 in court costs as of February.
