WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

A Wilmington woman is accused of attempting to rob a Virginia bank this week.

Amanda Renee Segura, 32, of Richelieu Lane in Wilmington, was arrested by Prince William County (Va.) police Wednesday and charged with attempted robbery.

According to police officials, officers responded to a Wells Fargo Bank located on Jefferson Davis Highway in Woodbridge, Va., just before 5 p.m.on Wednesday.

A bank employee told officers that a woman passed a teller a note demanding money. When the teller refused, the suspect fled the scene.

Police said they identified the suspect as Segura and located her shortly afterward at a hotel in Dumfries, Va.

According to the NC Department of Public Safety website, Segura has multiple previous convictions and was released from prison in December 2015 after serving a 13-month sentence for charges including assault with a deadly weapon and perjury.
