National champions played pickup against high school seniors on Thursday night.

Bold New Hanover County student-athletes challenged Isaiah Hicks to a dunk contest, and another challenged Nolan Smith one on one.

The 39th annual ACC Barnstorming Tour made a stop in Wilmington Thursday night, visiting Brogden Hall at New Hanover High School.

Players from Duke, North Carolina, NC State, and Wake Forest were represented in the scrimmage. The Heels, whose contingent included Hicks, Kennedy Meeks, Nate Britt, and Hoggard graduate Stilman White, are looking forward to the new opportunity their former assistant coach, C.B. McGrath, now has as the new head coach at UNCW.

"Throughout my four years, it was great," said Britt, who was recruited by McGrath. "He has some of the highest basketball IQ I've ever been around. I'm excited to see how his success goes at UNCW."

The players visited with McGrath prior to the game.

"Just basically told him good luck," Meeks said. "He's got a big road ahead of him. And keep his head up no matter what."

"For me, I'm happy he's leaving when I'm leaving, because it hurts a lot to see him go and start something new," Britt said. "But everyone's extremely happy for him. With us taking this trip down here, we had to come see him, so we went to his office, got to talk to him for a little bit."

The tour will finish Saturday at Kimmel Arena in Asheville.
