WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) -

Martin Letourneur finished first in the SUP Surf Pro-Am in Wrightsville Beach on Sunday.

Letourneur, who hails from Saint-Malo, France, earned the All Waterman Award given to the top overall performer after a tight finals competition.

Surfers from North Carolina joined competitors from as far away as Hawaii, France, Brazil and India for the pro-am, which serves as a prelude to the seventh annual West Marine Carolina Cup paddleboard event that starts Tuesday.

“I am very at home in these [Wrightsville Beach] conditions,” Letourneur said. “My home surf spot is always windy with small waves, so these conditions would actually be a very good day for us.”

Hawaii's Mo Freitas won the men's pro division, and Florida's Izzi Gomez took first in the women's pro category.
