Wilmington has one of the highest opioid abuse rates in the nation.
Waylon Hinson, the founder of Legacy Freedom Treatment Centers, joined us on WECT News First at Four to talk about the opioid epidemic.
Hinson explained he does not believe the traditional approach to addiction recovery because it focuses on the symptom but never resolves the actual problem.
He believes therapy has to address what caused the addict to start taking drugs.

Legacy Freedom Treatment Centers has six locations, including one in Wilmington.
