WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

UNCW basketball recruits Brion Whitley and Evan Cole have reopened their recruitment.

Both Whitley and Cole posted statements on their Twitter accounts.

Whitley, a three-star guard out of Sarasota High School in Florida posted: "I have decided to reopen my recruitment after discussing with family and coaches I'm close to. This is not personal to UNCW. I love the school and the opportunity provided, but due to coaching changes I felt that it was in my best interest to back out, and explore other options!”

Cole, who is from South Forsyth, Georgia, reopened his recruitment less than an hour after Whitley did.

“I would like to thank UNCW for all that they have done for me over the past year. Due to the coaching change at North Carolina Wilmington, I have officially granted my release. I will pursue opportunities at other colleges” Cole said on his Twitter account.

Despite the momentum the Seahawks carry coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance and the hiring of former North Carolina assistant C.B. McGrath as head coach, this is a blow for UNCW, which has lost four of five recruits in the 2017 class.
