NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Hope has no curfew.
This year, New Hanover County's Relay For Life returns to an overnight event to fight back against cancer.
The event, April 28 and 29 at Ashley High School, raises money for the American Cancer Society.
The survivor victory lap will begin at 6:15 p.m. on April 28 following the opening ceremony at 6 p.m. The luminary ceremony is at 9 p.m.
Survivors and teams can register at www.RelayForLife.org/NewHanoverNC or call 1-877-957-7848.
Prior to the Relay for Life, survivors are invited to a luncheon on Saturday, April 8 at LifePoint Church in Wilmington. Each survivor is encouraged to bring one caregiver (spouse, relative or friend).
Please RSVP to the American Cancer Society's Wilmington office at 910-254-4871 ext. 0.
Teresa Dunlap, who was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer five years ago, will attend the Relay for Life for the first time this year.
Dunlap, who works at PPD in Wilmington, was named a PPD Hero by the company. PPD Heroes are everyday people who have overcome illness with medical treatments developed through clinical research.
She shared her story today on WECT News First at Four.
