Hike NC offers free hikes in the Wilmington area

DURHAM, NC (WECT) - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and North Carolina State Parks announced on Monday the return of Hike NC, a free hiking program that makes it easier for participants of all ages and experience levels to hike and enjoy nature.

There will be several hikes offered in the area, beginning with an April 2 hike at 11 a.m. on Flytrap Trail at Carolina Beach State Park.

Other local hikes include:

  • April 7, Fort Fisher State Recreation Area, Basin Trail, 1 p.m.
  • April 19, Brunswick Nature Park, Live Oak Trail, 10 a.m.
  • May 6, Jones Lake State Park, Bay Trail, 10 a.m.
  • May 16, Brunswick Nature Park, Dogwood Trail, 10 a.m.

All of these hikes are listed as easy to moderate and are between .35 and 2.2 miles in length.

Spring hikes began in early March and run through mid-June.
