JUNE 14, 2005 -- A man, who took time off from protecting area streets to protect our country, is back in Wilmington.
Sgt. Eric Reichard made the long journey home from Iraq.
After 9/11, he left his job fighting crime on Wilmington streets to join the National Guard.
He wanted to help fight the enemy in Iraq. During his 16 month tour he helped keep communications gear working for U.S. troops. This job brought him into contact with Iraqis where he used his techniques as a police officer.
Including Reichard, there are six Wilmington police officers that have been called to duty.
