Fans welcome Seahawks home from CAA tournament

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - About 100 UNCW Seahawk fans gathered at Trask Coliseum Tuesday afternoon to welcome home the men's basketball team, fresh off its Colonial Athletic Association tournament championship win.

"It's great to see all the support the community has for us," said sophomore guard CJ Bryce.

UNCW defeated the College of Charleston in the CAA title game, 78-69, on Monday, and the Seahawks are heading to the NCAA tournament for the second consecutive season.

"We treat every game as it's a separate entity," Keatts explained. "Our guys did a great job. I thought we prepared well, I thought we did a great job controlling tempo and we came out with a great victory."

Keatts said the players will have a few days off to rest before getting back in the gym to prepare for what's next.

They will learn where they are heading for the first round of the NCAA this weekend during Selection Sunday.
