Krispy Kreme Offers Free Doughnuts

JUNE 3, 2005 -- If you like glazed, cream-filled, or sprinkles on top, Friday was your day to be a doughnut lover.

In honor of National Doughnut Day, Krispy Kreme handed out free doughnuts throughout Friday.

By midday, the store on South College Road had already served up 500 free doughnuts.

Doughnut Day was established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army in order to raise money during the Great Depression.
