New Theatre in the Works for Wilmington

JUNE 1, 2005 -- A new theatre is in the works in downtown Wilmington. It's part of a huge renovation project for Thalian Hall.

The proposed theatre will be built on what is now the back parking lot. It will seat around 250 people.

Thalian will begin raising the $8 million needed for the project early next year. Money will also go toward refurbishing the main theatre.

Executive Director Tony Rivenbark says, right now, Thalian is booked full and another theatre is much needed. The expansion is expected to be complete by 2008.
