WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Led by junior guard Madison Raque, UNCW used a record-setting performance from three-point range to coast past NCAA Division II foe Catawba, 91-65, in the Seahawks' final game before the holiday break inside Trask Coliseum on Monday evening.

The Seahawks, who were playing the final game in a three-game homestand, evened their record to 5-5 on the season. The game served as an exhibition for the Indians, who have posted a 7-3 record in regular season play.    

Raque tallied a career-high 28 points after knocking down 10-of-15 field goal attempts, including an 8-for-12 effort from beyond the arc, as the Seahawks set a school record with 15 made three-point field goals. She also added eight rebounds, matching her career high.

Junior guard Diamond Willis nearly recorded a double-double with a season-high 18 points with nine rebounds. She made 5-of-12 field goal attempts in addition to connecting on all six free throws.

Freshman guard Timber Tate came off the bench to add 11 points by converting four of nine shots from the floor, including a 3-for-6 performance from long range.

Senior guard Bri Johnson paced Catawba with a game-high 31 points after making 11-of-18 field goal attempts. She was also 6-for-9 from three-point range and converted all three of her foul shots.

How It Happened: UNCW outscored Catawba in the second half by a 49-27 margin, including a 30-9 spurt in the final stanza, to pull away for the victory. Raque netted 19 of her 28 points after the intermission, including 13 points in the fourth quarter, by making 7-of-10 field goal tries. The Seahawks also shot 54.5 percent from the field in the second half.

Game Notes: UNCW and Catawba met for the first time since Dec. 4, 1980 … The Seahawks lead the all-time series by a 5-0 margin over their in-state foes … UNCW has scored 90 or more points in each of the last three encounters with Catawba … The Seahawks tied a season high by scoring 28 first quarter points (Nov. 11 vs. Norfolk State) … UNCW scored 90 or more points for the first time since Mar. 9, 2012, a 94-87 victory over Hofstra in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament … The Seahawks' 15 made three-point field goals eclipsed the previous school record of 12, which was set against Northeastern on Mar. 9, 2013 … UNCW finished the game with 30 three-point field goal attempts, just one shy of the school record … Raque, who posted her seventh double-digit scoring effort of the season, became the first UNCW player with 20 or more points in a game since Jasmine Steele netted 23 points at Drexel on Feb. 14, 2016 … Steele also finished with five or more assists for the fourth time this season after tallying six assists … Led by Steele and freshman guard Moriah Crisp, the Seahawks set a season high with 25 assists … UNCW grabbed a season-high 19 offensive rebounds, which led to 23 second chance points … The Seahawks outrebounded their opponent for the sixth time in the last seven games after holding a 48-27 advantage on the glass … Junior center Rebekah Banks notched her fourth double-digit rebounding effort in the last five games with 10 rebounds, matching her season high … Johnson became the first UNCW opponent to notch 30 or more points in a game since Campbell's Amanda Coffer had 30 points on Nov. 19, 2014 inside Trask Coliseum … She is also the first player to notch a 30-point game inside Trask Coliseum since UNCW's Brie Mobley tallied a school-record 46 points on Feb. 26, 2015, against Delaware … UNCW set a season high for points in the first half (42) and second half (49) … The Seahawks made a season-best 13 field goals in the fourth quarter, marking the most made field goals in a single period this year … UNCW's 30 points in the fourth quarter matched a season high for points in a single period (Nov. 20 at Georgia State – second quarter) … The Seahawks outscored Catawba, 24-7, in bench points.
