Money Secured to Pay for Coastal Projects

MAY 25, 2005 -- There's good news for some of our local beach towns.

Congressman Mike McIntyre announced that the US House has passed a bill that includes $25-million for coastal projects in our area.

Money to pay for dredging Carolina Beach Inlet next year was not included, however McIntyre says he's still fighting for those funds as the legislation makes its way through Congress. This year's money to pay for dredging is still secure.

The $25-million will pay for projects at the Wilmington Port, Masonboro Inlet, Wrightsville Beach, the Intracoastal Waterway and Brunswick County beaches.
